To Cheat or Not to Cheat

And no I'm not talking about on my husband!!
Shame, shame!!

I'm talking about on health and exercise plans.

Over the weekend,
Dan and I, my sister and her boyfriend, and my friend
went to a local casino.
Since starting towards a healthier, happier me,
I have vowed to not drink alcohol
(yes shocking I know)
due to it's high sugars, carbs, and calories.
I just don't need it.
But what's a trip to the casino without the free drinks
the pretty cocktail waitresses bring to you while playing?
I was set in my mind that I wouldn't drink.
However,
once we got to dinner and it was time to order drinks,
I ended up getting a vodka and diet sprite.

Two to be exact and another at the club.
I accounted for every calorie in my program,
and kept it under control.
But that's as far as I'll go with cheating.
And how often do I go to the casino??
Once in a six month period if that!

I was recently talking to my bestie Karla about getting together.
She had mentioned that we should try to get together on a cheat day
to enjoy the bar food and drinks.

My family officially set the date for our Costa Rican vacation
June 2nd-9th and I want to reach my goal by then.
I informed her that no matter what I won't cheat,
I'll still account for every calorie I consume.
She was proud to hear that!

Now that I have not only our anniversary to look forward to,
but our vacation,
I am determined to be back to looking like this by then:
Me (left) and my sissy almost 4 years ago!

I've done it once,
and I can definitely do it again and STAY THERE!!

So now it's your turn:
Tell me how you feel about cheat days!
Whether it's with a diet, exercise plan, etc.

Ta ta for now <3

  1. I think cheat days are fine.
My theory is, if you deprive yourself of something you are really wanting or craving, when you finally give in you might end up eating/drinking WAYYYY more than you normally would! It's all about portion control!
Since you are still keeping up with your calories even during your little cheat times, I think it's okay.
I think you can have a cheat day with Karla.
Just keep up with everything still.
    And remember portion control!
Once you eat, wait about 30 minutes to give it time to digest before seconds, you might not even need or want seconds by then!
Don't be too hard on yourself, gotta have a little wiggle room!

  2. I don't usually drink alcohol either due to outrageous calories but when your dad gives you a free drink coupon for your airplane ride, you just can't say no! ;)

  3. I don't think I could stick to a diet plan without cheating a little. Especially if you're working so hard for a goal, you deserve to treat yourself. My weakness is craft beer. I'm on myfitnesspal and I've realized some of my favorite beers are between 200-300 calories! Yikes! I did watch a Dr. OZ episode with past contestants from the biggest loser and the two sisters said they plan a cheat day together so that way can work hard and look forward to the day that they can have what they want.

  4. I think it's okay to cheat a little because the thing is if you never cheat at all you'll just explode and go to town on everything. Allowing yoruself a little freedom here and there allows you to be more faithful in the long wrong! Just found your blog and have loved getting to know you better. I'm excited to follow along!
