The Newlywed Game During a Blizzard

For those of you who don't know, Sir Dan and I are in the middle of Nemo, the blizzard of 2013.

my whole family and I are in the 12-18in range, but could be more.
I am both grateful and pissed at Nemo. Grateful because the last day of my job was a day earlier, pissed because I had some amazeballs plans tomorrow that aren't going to happen. The storm has already started and the ground is currently covered. All schools and most jobs that aren't emergency related (fun fact, Dans job I guess is emergency related cause he's there now... they don't close for shit) and most people are staying indoors. If you follow me on //twitter I promise to keep you all posted. Sir Dan and I went grocery shopping earlier in the week, and are all prepared for Nemo.

Anywhhhooo, the reason we are all gathered at my blog today: The newlywed game with Karla

1.  How long were you dating your spouse before getting engaged? My answer: 381 days (plus or minus a few. he actually stated it in his proposal ;)) Sir Dan: exactly 381 days, no questions about it.
2.  Do you remember your first big fight, if so, what was it about? My answer: I believe it was actually about sex HAHAHA! Long story, not worth sharing but I can tell ya it wasn't from the lack of it. Sir Dan: about SBA (it's a nickname for one of his exes)
3.  Who said "I love you" first? My answer: Dan and I followed right after. Sir Dan: her technically... in many ways it was all me (I replayed the moment for him and he admits he said it first)
4.  What is your spouse most afraid of? My answer: vegetables or losing his man parts Sir Dan: losing me... or spiders... its close, no it's a draw
5.  Who uses more hair-care products? My answer: Me- if he did, I'd be worried. He doesn't have much up there (sorry hun) Sir Dan: NICOLE! As she says, I 'have no hair. no not like that!'
6.  Who initiated the first kiss?  How was it on a scale from 1-10? My answer: I DID!! He was a gentleman and kissed me goodnight on the cheek. I told him that 'he missed' and when he looked confused, planted one on him. It was quick but I'd say an 8. Sir Dan: Her. It was a 5 cause she made me feel like I was doing something wrong.
7.  You are on your way out, and need to turn around because someone forgot  something... was it you or your spouse who most likely forgot something? My answer: Dan! Sir Dan: Me, probably my wallet.
8.  Who takes longer in front of the mirror?  You or your spouse? My answer: Me, no doubt! I basically am his mirror and dress him for anything other than work. Sir Dan: There's a question??
9.  What would your spouse name your children if you had one girl & one boy? My answer: Brayden William and Awbrie Kayla Sir Dan: Awbrie Kayla (way to go babe) and Hayden Joshua (also a contender)
10.  If you were able to give away one thing that your spouse owned, what would you choose? My answer: anything Lord of the Rings Sir Dan: Does all of her shoes count as one thing? No? Maybe all her clothes?

I can't even write anything  cause I'm just so excited for you all to see my vlog. It took some time to think of the perfect song to which I would enter a room to... but in the end,  I figured it out. Don't you worry!!

Are you sinking or still swimming??

I’m having a very hard time grasping the fact

That it’s February 6^th.

I’m not complaining though by any means:

The faster we get through winter, the better!

But I still can’t believe we are in February.

February is actually my least favorite month of the year.

It’s just an eehh month where nothing really happens.

There’s no monumental thing that happened for Dan and I,

No huge holidays,

Nothing but cold temperatures and winter precipitation.

February does weed out those who have lost that new years motivation

And those who have kept at it.

Me??

I’ve kept at it and am goin strong

(like Lance Armstrong having sex with his one nut…

do you think he screams LIVESTRONG while in the middle of it??)

Dan and I aren’t one to follow rules

(insert badassness here)

And have just been doing Les Mills Pump randomly and whatever workout we felt like doing that day.

This past weekend when we got tickets to each others gun show

And was flexing in the mirror like body builders do,

We decided that we should prroobbably follow their calendar.

I mean they have to know what they are doing right??

RIGHT (at least we hope so)!!

We’ve been kickin ass with getting fit and into shape,

Losing fat and gaining muscle.

And with this set course,

We’ll be lookin like Audrey and Jeff from Rules of Engagement

Costa Rican adventure,

Our anniversary,

And summer in general!

One thing that is kinda stinky dink

And like a big ol’ mind fuck is the freakin scale!

Hello Nicole- muscle is heavier than fat ya dumbass!

Well yes I get that…

But like most females people,

When trying to become healthier and lose fat,

It’s natural to step on the scale.

However!!!

When that number stays the same or you lose like half a pound,

You get freakin discouraged.

Like there’s a little gremlin in there screwing with you

Because they know you’ll quit because you aren’t seeing what you want.

Well stupid little scale gremlin-

I say a big ol’ FUCK YOU and

A big ol’ PEACE OUT to the scale method.

I mean what really determines a healthier lifestyle anyway?

Some do say the scale- those that are just plain ol’ dieting.

Some say seeing your biceps get ginormous and no keg in front of your 6 pack.

Me??

I say when my pants get looser,

Feeling myself getting stronger,

And feeling all around better.

So nice try Mr. Gremlin and muscles,

But I’m not stoppin anytime soon.

Friday my handsome husband surprised me by  asking me out on a date. We decided to try some place new that was on the Best of CT list: Cafe Goodfellas. It was remarkable!!  Absolutely amazing food. We started off with some fresh bruschetta, I had Pork Milanese and he had chicken parm, and for dessert we had tartufo!! They gave us two glasses of champagne to celebrate  our 8th monthaversary. The best part of Dan not drinking- I got both ;) We had a very romantic night, he was super charming and I loved having a romantic night with my husband considering  time is not going to be in our favor  once school and work starts.

Saturday night we met up with Karla and Scott to have dinner and drinks at their favorite bar: Eli Cannons. It is the coolest bar ever- they have decor EVERYWHERE!!!  Things hanging from the ceiling, the bar (above, around, behind), the walls, everywhere!! And while you wait you can have as much freshly popped popcorn as you can get! They also have about 50 beers on tap, all listed and dated as to when the keg was tapped. After the bar, we headed to their house for Mario Party 2, and laughed until we cried!!

Super Bowl Sunday was spent at my parents, low key and comfy. The boys (and I) played video games on the plasma before the game, the pups cuddled with us all day, we cooked and ate like we never ate before (well kinda), and watched the Ravens kick butt! We also received horrible news that one of me and my sisters coworkers at the bar passed away this morning. He was young, funny, and a great guy. We are unsure as to what happened, but he will truly be missed by the Mcguires family.
We had a fabulous weekend that I wish didn't have to end. Now onto my last and final Monday ever! School is Tuesday thru Saturday, so I will never have a Monday :) One week until my dream comes true!!

one:  What was it about your spouse that made you think they were "the one"? My answer: He has the cutest most amazing smile I've ever seen and his charm Sir Dans answer: I couldn't grow tired of being around her
two:  What is your spouse's most annoying habit? My answer: When he literally slurps his hot beverages and when he spits. Sir Dans answer: Chewing, when it sounds like shes breaking her teeth on rocks.
three:  Does your spouse have to sleep on "their side of the bed", if so, which side? (if you're laying in bed looking up at the ceiling, which side?) My answer: Yes we do, he sleeps on the right, I'm on the left Sir Dans answer: She sleeps on whatever 6 inches is adjacent to my left.
four:  How are you planning to spend Valentine's Day? (simple or outrageous) My answer: Simple if at all. We don't really care about V-Day, its just one of the 365 days we love each other. Sir Dans answer: Simple... we're broke... again
five:  Who usually ends up trying to resolve an argument (aka..being the "bigger person")? My answer: We both do. When we argue we immediately talk about it. Sir Dans answer: US!
six:  How many kids do you plan to have one day, if any? My answer: 2 Sir Dans answer: 1 if she lets me... or 2 if I get her drunk enough
seven:  What is your spouse's best friend's name & do you get along with them? My answer: Jay, Nick, Gro, his brother Josh, Steve, Ole and yes I get along with all of them and love them all  Sir Dans answer: Kay, Karen, and Meg and yes I definitely get along with them
eight:  If your spouse one day told you that they are an ex-convict, how would you react? My answer: First I'd be shocked that he kept something from me, I'd then cry or yell, then ask him for what and to explain. Sir Dans answer: 'Was it for shoplifting?' (no I don't shoplift, except at restaurants... sometimes their really pretty glasses fall into my purse!)
nine:  Do you wish your spouse would stop doing a particular routine? My answer: YES! Every Sunday he goes to his brothers no matter what. Sometimes it's the only day we have together and he chooses his brothers. I am happy they have that relationship but miss our one day together. Sir Dans answer: Sundays mornings :P
ten:  Did the honeymoon go exactly as planned? My answer: yes and better :) Sir Dans answer: No... we didn't have enough sex (I don't know how that's possible!!)

...to think that these weeks before this new chapter are dragging like Ms. Trunchbulls hammer throw balls after she can't find Matilda.

...that I just referred to one of my favorite childhood movies and that most won't get it
...to like trying new recipes that are healthy and taste good
...to hate living in New England because of the horrible winter weather
...that even though I hate living in CT we will probably never leave or move too far
...that I'm going to be the best damn hairdresser and student Riccis has ever seen
...that I might be just under my goal by Costa Rica but at least I'll be close
...that I haven't had a cup of coffee in almost 2 weeks
...that I want to meet some of you fellow bloggers cause I know we'll get along great
...to hate Valentine's Day even with a husband who I adore 365 days a year!!!
